Hello!

It happened that I was saving a project when the program suddenly got frozen. Now each time I open that project the following message apears
"
Adobe has encountered an error.

and it frozen in "loadin sesion" windows

How can I fix this PROBLEM and reopen my project????????????

Ohter: Wich is the difference between saving as XML instead of SES????

(because sometimes get damaged :( )

panning of sends and returns

This is not an Audition question specifically, but I'm trying to figure it out in Audition, so if you can help me with it, you score just as many Adobe points.

 

If I route six different tracks with six different pan points via sends to a compressor on the same bus, and the compressor's panned center, will that affect the panning of each of the source tracks or will the effect be applied and returned to the source track's pan point?

 

CS6 doesn't have a pan setting for the send, and what I'm hearing is that the pan setting on the bus is affecting the pan setting of the source track.  How can I set up the bus so that it honors the pan setting for each of the six different tracks I'm sending to it?

R6025 - Pure Virtual Function Call

After several months of problem-free AA3, I now keep getting the same message: "Runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call" whenever I press the Edit tab.

Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem? Will Uninstall and Re-Installing it work? I run Vista. I'm not really technically minded and it couldn't have come at a worst time as I'm trying to put together my entry for the Hospital Broadcasting Association awards with my limited AA3 knowledge.

Any help, preferably using words I can understand, would be appreciated.

Audition 5.0.1 crash on OMF export

I'm getting a crash everytime I try to export an OMF from Audition 5.0.1 ( and also from 5.0.0 )

I'm on a mac 10.7.3 any clues, anyone else seeing this?

Audition 2 & 3 presets gone missing? How to re-establish them.

It's a good scheme to back up your Audition 2.0 (or 3.0) workspaces and  preferences from time to time even if things are running well. To do so  is quite simple.

 

1. Close Audition

 

2. Go to C:\Documents and settings\{yourusername}\Application Data\Adobe\Audition

 

3.  You should see a folder named 2.0 (or 3.0) - make a copy of the whole folder  and its contents and call it "My last 2.0" [or 3.0, or whatever] using normal  Windows procedures.

 

If you then want to reset your preferences to  the "factory install" state, delete the original "2.0" or "3.0" folder. When you  restart Audition, it will be re-created automatically, and in its default  state. But doing so will erase your own preferences and workspaces, so  do not do that unless you have a backup first - or even two.

 

In  the future, if you've had a problem you may need selectively to restore  (copy) the files or folders from "My last 2.0 (or 3.0)" into "2.0 (or 3.0)", as they  contain important setups and customisations which you'll probably want  to have back. Here's a list of some of them:-

 

DefaultWorkspaces  [folder] - contains the "factory" workspaces. Audition expects to find  the contents there under the original names, but if you want you can  replace them with defaults of your own devising, using the same names -  but under normal circumstances, leave them alone.

 

OriginalUserWorkspaces  [folder] - these are in essence backups of the workspaces you have  saved yourself. If (using the program's relevant option) you restore a  workspace after having amended it, Audition will use the the version of  the workspace in this folder.

 

UserWorkspaces [folder] - these are  the current versions of workspaces you have created yourself. If you  restore a workspace after having amended it, Audition will replace the  amended workspace in this folder with the original one from the  OriginalUserWorkspaces folder.

- Edit view mastering rack definitions

Audition 5.5 - MP3 default settings are 32kbps. How do I change this?

Hello...

 

On Mac OSX 10.7 in Audtion 5.5, I export files as MP3 all the time.  One time, about 4 months ago, I exported a track at 32kbps to upload a large file to the web.  Now, every time I export an MP3, it's default is set to 32kbps.  I have to change it back every time to 128.  Can anyone tell me how to change the default export settings back to Last Used... or at least to a specified setting?

Hi,

I,am a video editor/producer and am now producing a series of audio books. I purchased "Adobe Audition" and am impressed with the program.

As I,am a video editor, sound is "New" to me some so help here would be apricated.

I,am recording with an older actor his voice sometimes produces "Smacking" or "Gulping" Swollowing noises. I assume he has moist mouth or something like that.

Never the less he has a great voice and I want to use him but need to get rid of the noises. Any help out there.

Well its done!

Its been 3 months in the making and as I mentioned previously its not donationware but it is a fully functional demo only limitation is the number of tracks and 'clips'.

 

Many thanks to John Lundsten from  the UK for the idea of this project, for his tireless efforts testing the application and for his insight as well as the user guide.  Thanks also to Adrian Connelly for additional programming efforts and the interface and also dstDean from this forum for additional testing and encouragement.

This application is not for everyone but certainly for anyone who needs to move their projects from one DAW to another it is certainly worth a look.

 

It definitely the only application which currently allows you to import/export from Adobe Audition!

 

There are many other DAWS in our sights and significant work has already been completed interfacing to Reaper project files and OpenTL files.  These will appear in a free upgrade in the not too distant future.

CCITT u-Law encoder settings

Hi - Please forgive my ignorance I have a lot to learn about audio recording but I have searched these forums and the web extensively as well as trial and error and I'm stumped.

 

I've just got a copy of Adobe Audition and have been asked to create audio prompts for a unity Connection (CISCO) phone system.

The parameters I've been given are as follows:

 

Bit rate: 64kbps

Audio sample size: 8 bit

Channels: 1 (mono)

Audio sample rate: 8khz

Audio format: CCITT U-law

 

I think I have found where to adjust all of the parameters above except the audio format.

I found information proclaiming that these audio prompts can be created with Audition (even recomended) but no actual step by step instructions.
I also found some free conversion tools. I tried recording it with Audition and converting. The quality is severely worse off after conversion. I guess this is to be expected with 8 bit but I would like to have the best quality possible.

 

I got a decent sounding 8-bit recording in Audition but in the properties of the resulting .wav file for the file details it states encoder settings: PCM8bit-1.png:

Whereas the one I convert with the free converter shows Encoder Settings: CCITT u-Law

SO my question is... How can I get the ecoder settings to read CCITT u-Law when saving/exporting directly from Audition?

And any tips for maximizing the quality of the recording are appreciated. You can see the settings I chose above.

Saving Multitrack Session as VIDEO

Hi,

 

I've got a video with audio recorded on a separate device. I loaded both the video and the audio into Audition, matched them up in the multi-tracker, and now I'm completely stuck on how to mix the two together into one video file WITH the audio. I checked the help section on the webpage for Audition 3.0, and it said to go to file -> export -> FILE, but that option is grey/unavailable in the Mac beta. I go to file -> export -> MULTITRACK MIXDOWN, and the only thing I can export are audio files. There's a .mov option, but it says "audio only".

 

So, how do I make use of the video functionality of Adobe Audition, in order to create a video file from this editing process?

Please do not mistake this thread for a dupe of the other thread of a similar topic, I'd like to give a more in depth opinion of the new version of Audition compared to its predecessor.

 

 

For the past five years I have spent many hours of most days experimenting with audio, specifically audio restoration. I tried countless other applications before discovering Audition and none could offer what I was looking for. When I did discover Audition (version 3), about 3 years ago, it is one of the very few pieces of software I have since installed on every computer I use. It was extremely easy to use whilst having an incredible array of functions. The help manual was extremely comprehensive, giving detailed instructions and explanation of every single option in Audition, this alone I thought deserves praise. The program constantly delighted me; it seemed tailored to the needs of someone who would be using it to its full potential. I was constantly discovering new levels of potential that Audition offered and it has been the invaluable in allowing me to provide much needed audio restoration for vinyl rips of tunes that would otherwise become lost forever. With all that Audition v3 offered I could master even the worst, hiss-filled, click-ridden, muffled vinyl rips to recordings that would sound perfectly acceptable to be released on professional CDs.

 

I could not fault Audition v3, but I could, however, think of improvements, albeit very few. For years I eagerly awaited a new version and now it has arrived, I have to admit I am a quite disappointed.

 

The improvements that I had hoped would have been applied, have not. Instead, it seems to be a basic edition of version 3 except with a makeover. It does indeed work slightly faster, for example, instead of taking 6-7 seconds to load a track in version 3, it only seems to take 3-4 in version 4. Unfortunately this is about the only thing I can praise it for. The layout is unnecessarily complicated. I always valued audition for its extremely ergonomic layout, making it an extremely unconfusing application to work with. The new layout is clustered and unnecessary. I appreciate that I can alter the layout to what I would like, but it's unnecessary hassle to have to make it usable - I have never had to alter the layout of version 3 from its default. The available effects of the new version are the same as the old version, this alone was a little disheartening as I was anticipating numerous new abilities, but I can't really think of what else could be added, so I overlooked this. I can't, however, overlook that the processes are far more basic than what they were in version 3 and do not offer the ability to alter them to my exact needs, the declick effect being a prime example. Version 3's declick process had a vast array of settings allowing me to amend them to my exact requirements, the new version simply has 2 sliders, not even a "fix single click" option. I also feel that the help file is marginally more difficult to navigate than in the previous version.

 

I have to say that I agree with what was said in the previous thread, this new version simply appears to be a rehash of Soundbooth, which I have always perceived (as do many other people I have spoken to) to be a layman's version of Audition v3.


In conclusion, I regret to say that I'm sticking to v3. The new version only offers slightly faster processing, but at the cost of most of its functioning.

So, many of you have already seen the news online, in blogs, or on twitter, but I wanted to make sure our forums got a little love, too.  The Video and Audio group at Adobe have been granted permission to reveal what's coming in the next release, as we prepare to show and share these features at the upcoming NAB (National Assoc. of Broadcasters) exhibition in Las Vegas, NV.

 

I've written an overview on the Audition blog, and I'll be happy to extend the discussion here as well.  Briefly, here's a quick glance at what we've been working on:

 

Sound Remover

Our research team has been exploring a recent technology called Source Separation, and our first implementation offers an improved restoration and sound removal tool.  Whereas our Noise Reduction tool is excellent at cleaning up static background noise, and the Adaptive Noise Reduction excels at identifying and removing changing background sounds, the Sound Remover excels at plucking out foreground sounds while minimizing harm to overlapping content.

Preview Editor

You may have noticed the split-screen view in the above screenshot.  Audition's Waveform editor now supports a dual-view that can be used for many purposes.  Originally designed to provide a visual confirmation for effects which change the duration or timing of a file (including the Pitch Bender effect, which will be discussed below) we found it provides excellent visual feedback for almost all effect operations, allowing you to see and hear your changes before you commit.  In addition, it can be used to edit or compare arbitrary regions of a single file, or the lower view can always zoom to a selection so you can better maintain your place in the upper view.  Very powerful, though I suspect everyone may find their own way to use it.

 

64-bit Performance

Audition is now a fully 64-bit application on both OS X and Windows providing improved memory handling, performance, and support for the latest generation of OS, hardware, and plug-ins.  The use of jBridge, a 32-64 bit bridge for VST effects, enables you to continue using your favorite legacy effects while taking advantage of new technology and plug-ins.

Among the returning and updated effects are Pitch Bender, Scientific Filter, Pitch Shifter (real-time, automatable pitch correction and adjustment) and the Stereo Expander.  Generate Noise is back with additional noise profiles, and both Noise and Tones can now be generated directly in Multitrack view.

Enhanced Spectral Frequency Selections

Multiple spectral selections can now be made with the Lasso and Paintbrush tools, adding to or removing from the selection mask, and enabling complex, detailed selections.

 

Multitrack Enhancements

Look for a lot of visual and navigation improvements, most based directly on user requests.  Track Colors with Smart Clip Colors make it easy to visually group and identify your content or quickly assess where you are in the Mixer from across the room.  Quickly silence umms, ahhs, or offensive words without splitting clips or manually creating and adjusting keyframes.  When dragging multiple clips into a session, easily switch between placing the clips consecutively on a single track, or stacked on multiple tracks, and see more intelligent use of existing, empty tracks.  Also, the full clip duration and content is displayed when dragging into a session, and crossfades are automatically created when dropped on top of another clip.  Easily select all clips on a track with a double-click, or select all clips forward or backward from the playhead. New commands for jumping between markers while ignoring other elements, adjusting the view without moving the playhead or selections, and quick keyboard overrides to zoom into the playhead or the cursor at your command.

 

Frequency Band Splitter

This useful tool, popular among remixers, was always hidden within Multitrack in older versions of Audition, and was rather confusing for many users.  We've redesigned this tool to be more intuitive and visual.  Easily split a file into new files by frequency range.

 

The new Frequency Band Splitter tool allows you to separate a file into frequency-limited pieces.  What you do next is entirely up to you!

 

All sorts of other features!

Audition CS6 Wacom tablet issue

Hi,

 

I'm having a bizarre issue using my Wacom Intuos 4 tablet with Audition CS6. When I drag a clip around with my pen in a multitrack project, if I drag too slowly, the cursor keeps moving but the clip stops moving altogether. If I speed up, it immediately jumps to wherever the cursor is once it's moving fast enough. It's making precise editing kinda difficult.

 

I've had this problem on a couple of different computers. It isn't happening in Audition CS5.5 (still installed), or if I use a mouse in CS6. I've updated both Audition and the Wacom drivers.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions?

ASIO Sound Card Driver

I'm currently testing out the Audition 3.0 trial version and getting ready to purchase. However, there is an issue I'd like to clear up before moving on.

When I record in multitrack view, I get the following prompt: "You currently have a DirectSound card driver selected (Audition Windows Sound). For best results when recording, select an ASIO sound card driver. To change your sound card driver selection, choose Edit> Audio Hardware Setup."

I went to the the Audio Hardware setup, and I don't have any options other than the Audition 3.0 Windows sound.

After I exit out of the prompt above, I actually record fine without making any changes. I'm using the Samson CO1U, which by the way is a great USB studio quality MIC. For a sound card, I have the PCI Soundblaster X-FI Extreme Audio, which has ASIO drivers.

Another issue real quick is that despite 3 gigs of ram and a dual core processor, I freeze up for a while after attempting to leave the Audio Hardware Setup. It's the only times I ever freeze up on this computer, but do it every time trying to leave there.

Making a stereo track out of 2 mono tracks in Audition for Mac

I have been using Audition 3 on Windows and am currently migrating to Mac platform. I was able to make a stereo track out of 2 mono ones on Windows but cannot find the same feature in this release i.e the procedure (see below) cannot be followed because in the Mac Mix Paste window there is no 'Overlap' to be selected or unlock button for L/R channels, as well as no volume adjustment.(see below)

Can you tell me if this is a feature that has been deliberately overlooked, but may be in the final version - is there a way of doing this operation that I have missed. Maybe someone knows the answer to these questions. It was a very useful feature in Audition which Soundbooth does not have.

Recording Audio from the Internet

I just got a new computer at home loaded with Windows 7.  I downloaded Audition 3 earlier this week and I am having trouble figuring out how to record audio from the internet (say a youtube video) into Audition.  Keep in mind, this is a home computer.  I don't have a  mixing board set up here at the house.  Any advice? 

 

Could this be an "unfixable problem?"  I have heard that Windows 7 makes this kind of recording virtually impossible in order to avoid copyright infringement.
