Latency Issue with Poor Sound

I really have 2 issues with Recording in Audition CS6

My Setup:

Windows 7 Pro 64bit

32gb RAM

3.40 gigahertz Intel Core i7-3770
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 [Display adapter]
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 [Display adapter]
Realtek High Definition Audio

Adobe Audition CS6

Microphone:

Audio-Technica AT2005USB - Dual XLR/USB

Audio Interface:

Mackie Onyx BlackJack

Issue 1:

I can only set the Latency in ASIO to ASIO Buffer Size - 512 samples and USB Streaming to "Standard", I don't really know if this is "good" or "bad", but from what I have read online you want to get the latency as low as possible.

If I set the USB Streaming lower than Standard my recording is all distorted and can't be understood at all (Low-Latency or Minimum).

How do I get the latency lower without distortion?... or do I really need to?

Issue 2:

From what I have read an unusual amount of "clicks" and "pops" can be related to latency...and believe you me I am getting what seems to be an unusual amount of what sounds like "static" clicks...

Any suggestions would help as I am quite new to this and am attempting to do some quality Podcasting.

Thanks.
