Audition 3.0.1 crashes with R6025 error every time

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64, SP1

I installed the Adobe Audition trial installer, as well as the Audition 3.0.1 patch.  Both installs went very smooth.

Tried to run AA3, and get the "this is a trial version" message.  Clicked Continue, splash screen comes up, and then the app itself finally shows up, but I get an error message right away:

Shutting Down: To continue working where you left off, please restart Audition.

After that, AA3 closes and I get:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error!

R6025 - pure virtual function call

As of yet, I have been unable to completely load the program even once.

I looked around for a few quick tips, what I found:

  • uninstall QuickTime (I don't have QuickTime installed)
  • clear out %appdata%\Adobe\Audition\3.0
  • Remove (or rename) C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Audition 3.0\en_us\ImporterQT.prm

... none of which helped any.   Can anybody help me with this?

Speech Volume Leveler Audio Noticeably Wavers

I am Audition noob.

In Premiere I've selected the "Edit in Audition" option because my videos have speakers who keep varying their volume levels. One minute they're using their inside voice, the next they're using their outside voice, and sometimes they whisper. Grr.

I have tried using the Speech Volume Leveler, but the results waver a little. The speakers are in an auditorium, and sometimes the leveler brings up the room noise between each word, and it can be very noticeable.

A couple of the speakers show short videos. Those turn out awful, because their videos have background music. The music level pretty much rises and falls between each word.

Is there an easy way around this?

Thanks.

Deafening Digital Noise After Mixdown of a 5.1 Bus

I'm having some issues that have just cropped up when I try to 'multitrack mixdown' a bus from my film project. This .sesx session originally was imported from a Premiere project. The project is about 90mins in length and I am trying to export multiple 5.1 stems from each 5.1 bus in my project (SFX, VO, Music, etc). I am using the 24bit/48kHz wav format in the export settings.

This worked fine before but has just now resulted in files that consist of crazy 0dBFS digital noise in 2 of the resulting mixdown stems. It started happening after implementing a music ducker that is triggered from the dialogue/VO track... not sure if that would trigger this result or not. Has anyone run into this sort of thing? If so, I'd love to hear the fix!

Thanks!

I'm running Adobe Audition CC on OSX 10.7.5 on a MacPro 1,1

Adobe Audition won't start C++ runtime error

Hi, I downloaded and used the trial version fine for the full trial time. Decided to purchase this weekend. It's not a cheap piece of software, so I'm hoping for some decent support here.

I managed to run the full unlocked version a few times without problems. I haven't installed anything else since it last ran. I did notice that it seemed slightly sluggish today.... then when I tried starting it later:-

Bang!

"Runtime Error" Program C:\Progra...

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applicaton's support team for more information"

I tried a complete uninstall, restart, reinstall... same error. I'm not finding anything relevant in this or other support forms. The error message isn't tellin gme too much either.

Help please!

Adobe Audition 2.0 crashes when I try and save my work

I've been using Adobe Audition 2.0 for my dissertation work but in the past couple of weeks it has been refusing to save any of my work. I am going through and auditting large sound files of whale acoustics but when I click save the whole program just reads "not responding" and I'm forced to close the program using task manager. I've not been able to recover the work afterwards either.

The computer I'm working from has quite a full hard drive, but we freed lots of memory when the problems started but this hasn't helped. We also defragmented the hard drive but again with no results.

If anyone could help me out I'd be so grateful! Starting to panic a little bit....

Does Audition compare to other DAWs like Pro-Tools? AND..... Does Audition support the use of 3rd party VST/AU instrument plug-ins such as Native Instruments Komplete VSTs?

This is a deciding factor for my purchase of this program.

Thanks,

Setting the Sample Rate in Windows Vista and 7

This is an extract from a thread about setting up sound devices - specifically it relates to Vista, but in general it applies to all current Windows OS's.

Its originator is Adobe's _durin_

You'll need to make sure that the sample rate for your input and output channels of your device match.

1. Right-click on the speaker icon in the lower-right corner of your desktop and choose Recording Devices

Screen shot 2012-03-08 at 10.36.54 AM.png

2. Right-click the Microphone (or desired input channel for the device) and choose Properties

Screen shot 2012-03-08 at 10.37.13 AM.png

3. Click the Advanced tab and verify or change the Default Format option

Screen shot 2012-03-08 at 10.37.25 AM.png

4. Click OK then click the Playback tab.  Right-click on your default or desired output channel and choose Properties

Screen shot 2012-03-08 at 10.37.39 AM.png

5. Make sure the Default Format option matches what you selected for your recording channel.  (You'll notice in this screenshot, my playback device is configured for 48,000Hz while my microphone was configured for 44,100Hz.  These need to match.)

Screen shot 2012-03-08 at 10.37.50 AM.png

6. In Audition, create a new session.  For best results, ensure your session sample rate matches the sample rates you selected for your decices.  Audition will attempt to convert the sample rate of your recording on-the-fly to match the session sample rate, but it's always recommended to work at a single, consistent sample rate to ensure no change to the audio signal takes place.

Bob Howes added the following information to Durin's setup procedure that is Vista-specific:

The only thing to add is that you may have to do this again for future sessions--one of the pains of Vista is that it allows other software to grab the sound settings and adjust them--so if, for example, you've just watched a Youtube video with 48kHz audio, but want to record at 44.1, Windows may have left the settings at the last ones used.

Playhead not moving, but audio is playing

I think I have a compatibility issue that I need some advice on.

I'm running Audition CS6 on Windows 7 and have an Mbox2 mini that I use for recording.

I have downloaded the latest standalone driver for the Mbox2 from Avid (9.0.2.65) and almost everthing is now working in Audition.

I can record and play, but the playhead never moves.  This is obviously annoying as you can't see where you are in the track.

I'm guessing it's a driver issue and that Audition isn't getting the time location, but not really sure.

Please let me know if you have any ideas how to resolve this.

Thanks.

Tim

Audio Hum when I hit record

$

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help me, I think it is more of a hardware issue, but I want to see if anyone has had the same issue and if there is a way to rectify it. I have a USB mixer plugged into a Windows 7 PC that is on my work network. All is fine when I open Audition, but as soon as I hit the 'record' button, I am able to hear a hum through the monitor speakers plugged into the mixer. This hum is also recorded and comes through as a -60dB to -38dB fluctuating wave.  When I stop recording, the hum stops, so I am sure it is linked to PC activity.

I have tried Audacity. Windows Sound Recorder and Camtasia and I get the same hum, whatever the software.

I have also tried plugging in a MacBook Air, and I do not get any hum when recording onto this device at all.

Any help would be gratefully received...

Activating Audition 3.0

I've had to reinstall Audition 3.0 from the original CD but I can't activate it because the activations server is shut down. There has to be a way to convince the software that it's legitimately activated and therefore usable. I think I had seen a technique somewhere but don't have a printout of it.

How to unmix audio layers?

$

I'm doing a video editing project in Premiere Pro, I think the imported files come with one compressed video source and one compressed audio source. It was recommended to me that I use Audition to edit the audio, so that's what I'm doing.

The problem I'm having with some files is that there are different layers in the audio:

1) background

2) soundtrack music

3) dubbed narration

Sometimes I'd like to keep the background noise, but extract the dubbed narration. How can this be done?

When my project is finished, it will be in documentary style with my own voice-over and narrative, and so 5 second clips here and there from different sources with different voices doesn't work. I don't want to mute the imported audio entirely, because the lack of background noise or music will be noticeable and awkward to anyone watching the video .... and I don't want to record my own background noise that may not even be of high enough to quality to match the video.

Help? Thanks.

Splitting Stereo Channels into seperate tracks

I have a stereo audio track which I have pulled from an AVI file in prem pro. The left channel has voice from a radio mic while the right channel is the camera mic with general audio. I need to seperate the two channels so I can use the voice audio when its needed.

So my question is how do u do this?

I'm a beginner user of AA though I have owned veris versions for some years, just never had the time to get right into it until now. I've have spent the last couple of days digging through help menus and manuals trying to solve this problem. Usually I'd use hardware to do a work around but I figured I might as well start using the software.

Any help would be appreciated...
Sorry if this is a silly noob question.

Trouble installing Audition 3.0 on Windows 8...

$

Hi,

Just got a new Samsung laptop with Windows 8...this is all new to me..I'm used to my old XP laptop but it was ancient.  I'm getting frustrated because the main program I wanted to use - Adobe Audition 3.0 - doesn't seem to want to install on my new laptop.  The installation begins, even the official Adobe extractor makes a folder for the program files, asks me if I'd like to install Audition, I click "Yes", it starts to install....then when I get to selecting which language, I click on "English".  At this point, the installer just disappears. Nothing.  No confirmation of anything, no error message.  I've tried this over & over...

Also I've tried to use Compatibility Mode with no luck.  When doing it that way, a box comes up that says something like "Did the program install correctly...select Yes if so, or No to troubleshoot...".  If I select "No", the window doesn't offer any solutions.  Another weird thing--on a whim I took this laptop into a computer repair place and explained what's happening.  Everyone working there had never heard of this happening.  They even called their main tech who was off work that day, and he was intrigued and stumped, having never seen this kind of an issue.  The best they could come up with was for me to re-install Windows 8, which seems very excessive to me.  I'm told Windows 8 has some "glitches", although I have no idea how true that is.

I do understand that some very old programs aren't compatible with Windows 8.  But I have heard/read multiple people say that they are using Adobe Audition 3.0 on Windows 8 and that it works fine.

I'm hoping this is something easy to figure out. I did try to search around online and here before posting this, but couldn't find a solution.  Many thanks for any suggestions or input!
