Set session duration?

I just created my first session in Audition. I imported two files into two tracks. Although each file is just over an hour long, and they are lined up at the start time, the session shows a length of over eight hours. I would like to trim that to the length of the tracks, since I do not plan to extend it and it would be more convenient to work with if the session ended at the end of the sound. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a way to do that. What am I missing?

BTW: I am new to Audition, but I am having a good time learning it.

How to elimate "Lip Smacking/ Mouth Noises"

Hi,

I,am a video editor/producer and am now producing a series of audio books. I purchased "Adobe Audition" and am impressed with the program.

As I,am a video editor, sound is "New" to me some so help here would be apricated.

I,am recording with an older actor his voice sometimes produces "Smacking" or "Gulping" Swollowing noises. I assume he has moist mouth or something like that.

Never the less he has a great voice and I want to use him but need to get rid of the noises. Any help out there.

Matt

Saving Multitrack Session as VIDEO

Hi,

I've got a video with audio recorded on a separate device. I loaded both the video and the audio into Audition, matched them up in the multi-tracker, and now I'm completely stuck on how to mix the two together into one video file WITH the audio. I checked the help section on the webpage for Audition 3.0, and it said to go to file -> export -> FILE, but that option is grey/unavailable in the Mac beta. I go to file -> export -> MULTITRACK MIXDOWN, and the only thing I can export are audio files. There's a .mov option, but it says "audio only".

So, how do I make use of the video functionality of Adobe Audition, in order to create a video file from this editing process?

AC3 support!!!

I work mostly with video and I enjoy using AA for the audio portion. It's a bit of a pain though with no direct AC3 support.

Can we have this?

Combining multiple .sesx files into one?

Hello all,

I'm hoping that I'm missing something very obvious. The situation is that I've been working with a local film maker on a project that is aout 90 minutes, and I've been doing the audio portion. I've been given the project in 10 minute segments - when 10 minutes of video is complete, I get the file and begin working on sound. The last 10 minutes was finished last week, and the audio for it is done as well.

Now that all 90 minutes of video are complete, I'd like to get all of my multi-track seesion together into 1 multi-track session to make sure all of the audio is synced properly, volume matches, etc.

So, is there a way to combine all 9 multi-track sessions and retain all of the individual clips, edits, markers, etc? What I'm trying to avoid is exporting each 10 minute stem, losing all of my edits, and bringing them into a new project. When setting this up, I did use Auditions template function so each 10 minute segment has the same tracks, other details, etc.

Thanks.

Hey I have never had this problem before with all earlier versions of Adobe Audition. I just bought CS5.5 and tried to load the Waves plug ins I always use and they do not all load into the program. Some do load in, but unfortunatly not the ones I use most often. Any Ideas?

Remove Voices and Background Noise From Video

Okay,

So I have a couple videos with some cool music in the background, and I like listening to it. However, they are blocked by background noise and dialogue in the video. I've been searching for a pretty long while on how to get rid of the background noise and the voices. I've learned that this is in fact very possible, and that Adobe Audition comes highly recommended for doing this task. Before I go downloading any program to my computer, I'd like to know how to do this. Which format should the video file be under (wmv, avi...etc) or if it should just be an Mp3. Please help.

And Thanks in Advance,

Registerd Audition V2.0 user ready to upgrade but don't need the multitrack capabilities.

Is there a product with just the sound editing capabilities of Audition?

Cannot monitor voice while recording

Hi all,

A couple of questions.

I have Audition 3 with windows 7 home. I can record and playback fine but I can't hear any sound through my headphones while recording. Playback sound is ok. I had the same setup with windows xp and Audition 2 before and no problems.

Also I can import CD music tracks into Audition 3 ok, but not if they are data tracks on CD. Audition does not seem to see the tracks at all.

And finally, Audition 3 seems to want to only record voice at 48,000. How can I record at 44,000. I get a message saying I can't when I try.

Thanks

Phil

CS6 disappointment - am I missing a trick?

$

Hi folks,

I'm a long-time user through Cool Edit to the current version (skipping CS5). I've upgraded and I've been tentatively trying out CS6. Yesterday, I started my first full session in 6 for a soundtrack on a deadline. It feels now like a massive mistake. I'm just wondering am I missing out on something as regards setup or optimization because its performance is well below 3.0 which I also have installed on this machine. The project has a 48hr deadline and I'm at the point of bouncing stems and going back to 3.0 because I just can't afford to use CS6 today. Here's my issues which perhaps someone can give me advice on. It's a pretty decent new laptop running Windows 7. If there are some optimisation tricks I'm missing, please let me know as I couldn't see anything I could change in the settings.

1. Crashes - it crashed numerous times. It just stops working and that is the only error message I get. I think this is related to the number of VSTs I'm using. But it's a lot less than I use on the same machine with v3.0. It's happened sometimes even when it was an Audition native effect I was adding. Which brings me to my next point..

2. VSTs. It just doesn't seem to handle them as well as v3.0. Slowdowns, dropouts, buzzing,  I'm so disappointed at how the machine seems to be slowing down after using about half the plugins I'd use in 3.0. The slowdown is infuriating and unworkable. Which brings me to my next point..

3. Pre-render. I have a group of drum tracks that I wanted to pre-render as the machine was slowing down. But after pre-render, half of the track is gone! It's muted somehow, I play up to a certain point and the tracks disappear. If I switch off pre-render, they're back again, but I can't do that as the machine slows down too much.

4. Workspace. It just seems harder to work with. Too many boxes and I just can't seem to find a right zoom level for working with clips. Moving clips just seems so much harder than 3.0. The clip properties box is so annoying because if I need to make a minute timing adjustment, if I click in the wrong place when choosing a playback position to choose from, the box changes to something else such as session properties. Which brings me to my next point..

5. Introducing lag! After I'd got to about 7 tracks, CS6 started introducing huge lag in newly recorded tracks. Really infuriating. So I'm having to re-align newly recorded tracks with the old ones, which is just not as easy as in 3.0 as I said above.

As I say, frustrating on a deadline. It's terrible that I feel I made a mistake using the newer version than the old one when something important was at stake.

How do I calibrate new speakers with Audition CS6?

I have purchased Audioengine 2  powered desktop speakers and an Audioengine S8 powered subwoofer to use for editing audio files with Audition CS6. While these sound great, I would like to find software and/or hardware to calibrate these with Audition. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can Audition fix distortion?

It seems most of my footage, which we recorded on Sony HDCAM tapes, is poor. There is distortion in a lot of the dialog, which sounds very tinny or has annoying echoes. (There's also a lot of static and background noise, but I know Audition can fix that.) I've been told that there's no way to fix distortion if the audio has been recorded poorly to begin with. Just thought I'd ask the experts here if you agree or there actually is a way to fix it. (If not with Audition, any other possibilities?)

Splitting Stereo Channels into seperate tracks

I have a stereo audio track which I have pulled from an AVI file in prem pro. The left channel has voice from a radio mic while the right channel is the camera mic with general audio. I need to seperate the two channels so I can use the voice audio when its needed.

So my question is how do u do this?

I'm a beginner user of AA though I have owned veris versions for some years, just never had the time to get right into it until now. I've have spent the last couple of days digging through help menus and manuals trying to solve this problem. Usually I'd use hardware to do a work around but I figured I might as well start using the software.

Any help would be appreciated...
Sorry if this is a silly noob question.

Well its done!

AATranslator is finally finished.

http://www.aatranslator.com.au/ is where you will find it.

Its been 3 months in the making and as I mentioned previously its not donationware but it is a fully functional demo only limitation is the number of tracks and 'clips'.

Many thanks to John Lundsten from  the UK for the idea of this project, for his tireless efforts testing the application and for his insight as well as the user guide.  Thanks also to Adrian Connelly for additional programming efforts and the interface and also dstDean from this forum for additional testing and encouragement.

Those who have supported me in the past (as at the time of this post) through donating for any of my previous applications are entitled to $50usd off the price for every application they have donated to me in the past.  For some that equals a free copy!  Never let it be said that I don't appreciate your support!

This application is not for everyone but certainly for anyone who needs to move their projects from one DAW to another it is certainly worth a look.

It definitely the only application which currently allows you to import/export from Adobe Audition!

There are many other DAWS in our sights and significant work has already been completed interfacing to Reaper project files and OpenTL files.  These will appear in a free upgrade in the not too distant future.

Enjoy.....

When we'll see the new Audition CS6.5?

Hi everybody, how's it going?

I was wondering if anyone of you have heard something new about the CS6.5 Suite and the relative Audition CS6.5 release.

I know it should be out later during the year but I'd like to know more...CS6 works good but there's always something I miss from AU 3 and I can't wait to have more on the new software (like advance looping options for instance).

Thanks guys!

Unable to record "What U Hear" in Audition 3.0.1 on Windows 7 x64...

I am trying to record sound that is playing on my system using Audition 3.0.1 on Windows 7 x64.  I have Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card with latest driver 2.18.0011.  In Audition, I have set audio hardware setup to "Audition 3.0 Windows Sound" and default input to "What U Hear"--which is proper setup to record sound playing on my system.  But when I click the record button, I get an error message titled "Adobe Default Windows Sound Driver" error code FF9-5-0044 [8878000a] "device could not be opened".  And then Audition only records silence.  I've tried using the Sound Recorder program that comes with Windows 7 x64 and that records fine.  But Audition won't record any sound.  Any ideas?  Can this be fixed?

R6025 - Pure Virtual Function Call

After several months of problem-free AA3, I now keep getting the same message: "Runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call" whenever I press the Edit tab.

Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem? Will Uninstall and Re-Installing it work? I run Vista. I'm not really technically minded and it couldn't have come at a worst time as I'm trying to put together my entry for the Hospital Broadcasting Association awards with my limited AA3 knowledge.

Any help, preferably using words I can understand, would be appreciated.

On Audition CS5.5 I want to be able to monitor my mix in Mono. How do I do that?

$

Fortunately there's a simple way to configure the Mixer's Output section to do this:

What you do (and you can configure this however you want) is to open an instance of the channel mixer in the Master section's FX. If you want mono from both speakers, you have to modify the preset that says 'Downmix to 1/0 (Mono)' so that what happens on the L channel (70.71% = -3dB) happens on the R channel as well. Then save a new preset called 'Downmix to 1/1 (Glorious Mono)'.

How you use this is delightfully simple - just toggle the power switch on the effect! When active, it's mono, when you turn it off it's stereo again. It works pretty much in real time, and obviously you can hack it around if you want so it's both channels to L or R, rather than both.

Incidentally, the expression 'Glorious Mono' is what the BBC has always referred to it as when it comes from more than one loudspeaker.
