Export via markers not possible

Hi,

The situation: a 50 minute live track of a band, in the multitrack view I have 2 stereo tracks with some effects.

I added a dozen range markers for the songs. in the Markers list they appear with correct start, end and duration. I named them after the songs. (the markers are Range markers, NOT point markers)

Then  when I select  all markers in the markers list, the option File->Export->Audio within range markers is still grayed out.

Also the 4th and 5th icon in the marker list stay gray ("insert selected range markers in playlist" and "export audio of selected ranges into separate files")

I know this should work, i did this before, but now it won't. I know back then i had to do an aditional action to activate the menu, but stupid me forgot to jot that down somewhere...

Can anyone give a hint?

What is the difference between the CS6 version and the CC version of the Audition program?

Usually when i dynamic link to audition and save and go back to premiere it saves my files to my project folder im working from.

Something has changed and they save elsewhere, if  I move the files to the project folder it stuffs up premiere wanting to reconnect everything..

And if I save them straight to my desired folder I have to import those files into premiere, frustrating me

Any ideas what I can do.?

Multitrack Duration: How do you change it?

I've just started using Audition and I've got a video that's 2:30 in length. Now I created a Multitrack Session and when I put in the video, I noticed that the scroll bar at the top was SUPER tiny. This is also when I realized that the length of the session was over 10 minutes long. I've looked all over Audition and searched the forums and the help, but can't see how to make it smaller. Yes, I know I can zoom in and I know I can just export the selected, but I have to scrub through the audio a lot and with a scroll bar being a quarter of a millimeter, this makes working in small sections of the video extremely irritating.  is it really that hard or complicated to be able to change the duration? I see that it's 13 minutes in the bottom right of the program.

Metadata panel missing "Options Menu"

I'm trying to delete certain XMP data from a WAV file in the Waveform Editor, and the documentation says to use the "Options Menu" on the Metadata panel:

Adobe Audition Help | Viewing and editing XMP metadata

However, my Metadata panel (Audition CC 2015) doesn't have an Options Menu, just the three-bar hamburger menu that lets you close the panel, dock/undock, etc (see attachment).  Is the documentation out-of-date or is something else wrong?

How to play multiple files continuously in File View in cs6

I have a bunch of mp3 or WAV files loaded up in my "Files" window.   I'd like to listen to them back-to-back without loading them onto the multi-track one after the other.  Is there a way to do this?

Why is "edit in Audition" greyed out in Premiere Pro and After Effects?

$

Since the CC 2014 launch, the option in in Premiere Pro and After Effects to "edit in Audition" is greyed out. Right-clicking a clip in Premiere Pro doesn't have an option for Audition. I cannot send my compositions, sequences or clips to Audition for audio editing. I contacted an Adobe Support personnel earlier this evening. They suggested to go into my Mac's System Preferences and enable a root user, log out of my account, log into the root user, shut down and boot up into safe mode. None of these scenarios worked. It is still greyed out, in both user accounts.

Is this a known issue? I even uninstalled and reinstalled Audition. Still nothing. All my Adobe apps are updated. My Mac is updated. Again, never had this issue before.

I'd appreciate any assistance!

Thank you!

Cheers,

Evan Lockhart

I have had no other issues with CC products apart from this.

I have Adobe CS5.5 installed, is this the reason why it wont start?

Thanks.

How do you gradually slow down a track?

$

As far as I can tell, it should work the same way as gradually changing pitch. On Adobe Audition CS6 on a Mac, gradually changing pitch is as simple as using the Time and Pitch > "Time and Stretch (process)" under the Effects menu, then switching from the iZotope plugin to the Audition plugin, and adjusting the beginning pitch and final pitch over the selected audio. Why doesn't this work with the time? I'm trying to slow down a piece of audio gradually, but it doesn't seem to work.

Insert multiple files onto a single track, not one file per track

$

Hello,

In both Audition CS5.5 and CS6, when the user inserts multiple files into a multitrack session, they are placed on multiple tracks. (As the help file says, "The files are inserted on separate tracks at the current time position"). Please change this to allow multiple files to be inserted onto a single track.

I can understand the usefulness of the current behaviour in some scenarios, but there are other workflows in which the placement of multiple files on multiple tracks is a serious hindrance.

E.g. In this thread, a user mentions needing to insert 10,000 individual files for dialogue editing and mixing.

I also posted in that thread because my own workflow involves editing hundreds of individual files, which are single notes recorded for the production of virtual instruments.

The reason why a "one-track multitrack" workflow is useful to me is that it allows great flexibility in processing multiple files individually or at once, comparing them, adding markers, fades, etc.

It would also be useful when bringing in any audio that has been recorded in consecutive chunks - field recordings, concerts, Foley sessions, etc.

In the thread, another user suggested inserting all the files onto a single track in Premiere Pro, then bringing that project into Audition as a multitrack session. Unfortunately this creates another problem for me, because it renames all the audio with the suffix "extracted". My workflow requires me to keep the original file names, because these are used downstream when mapping the recorded notes in the virtual instrument.

Thanks for reading and please consider this for a future update.

How to shorten Multitrack time length

I have a song that's 3:30 long, but for whatever reason, in multitrack view, the song extends to almost 20 minutes...how can I get rid of those extra 16+minutes of space?...seems this may be why my computer crashes frequently during playback/editing of this song...I'm assuming because of the length of this session...I've tried several "delete" options, but to no avail...

How to force language (en-us)

$

Hallo,

i'm on Windows7 32bit (de-de) with Audition 3.0.1 and language strings are mixed up ('de-de' and 'en-us'). I installed audition with 'english' language (clean 1st time install) and 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Audition\3.0\Prefs\Language' is '0'. I also tried to remove 'de-de' folder but doesn't help. The corresponding files like 'Nonoise.xfm' are multilanguage (holding multi5 unicode strings) controlled by the host software (Audition) so its not possible to just remove locale files to force en-us output.

I'm currently out of ideas. If you know some tricks to force 'en-us' on a localized system please leave a message.

Thank you.

Audition CS6 has stopped working

My legally obtained and registered copy of Audition CS6 has worked perfectly since I got it. But recently it has developed a fault and won't open. I get a message saying:

"Adobe Audition CS6 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." In short, it won't even start.

After searching for solutions online I have tried a few things, like renaming a folder in the app data directory. I've also reinstalled the software from the discs and I've downloaded and installed an update patch, but the problem persists.

Has anyone had this problem - and more importantly - solved it?

Thanks.

Audition Problems

Installation of Audition seemed to go ok.  However, when it boots it reports that:  "Loading the default input and output devices failed: MME internal device error..."   I also get the error after I set the audio devices to either "ASIO" or "MME".   Likewise, Audition will not output to the audio device (MOTU HD192 ASIO).

Audition CS 5.5 and the future of Audition

$

Good morning Audition fans.

As promised, I wanted to share the news and state of Adobe Audition as well as answer your questions about the new release and what the future holds.

First, Adobe announced the release of CS 5.5 Monday morning to coincide with our presence at the NAB convention in Las Vegas, NV.  Among the updates to the other applications in the Production Premium suite, the big news from my perspective was the inclusion of Audition into the Production Premium and Master Collection suites.  Soundbooth, the previous audio tool offered in the Suite, has been discontinued.

Next, a little bit of history:  Adobe purchased Syntrillium 8 years ago in order to provide an audio solution to their video and broadcast production users.  At the time, Premiere Pro was a Windows-only NLE and Cool Edit, now Audition, was a great fit in the original Video Suite.  However, as Adobe recognized the value in the Suite model for users and the bottom-line, the other applications were updated to support Apple and Windows users.  The Audition team looked at the 15 years of legacy Windows code and were not confident the application could be ported quickly enough to satisfy the CS release schedule.  As an audio editor was necessary in the suite package, we created Soundbooth which was a simple audio editor built on top of Premiere Pro's media playback engine.  This enabled the team to provide value to the Suite, but the limitations of a playback engine crafted to handle large video files was not ideal for detailed audio production.  As a tool to assist with basic audio editing and restoration needs for a primarily video and motion graphics audience, it did find a userbase who appreciated the simplicity and ease of use, although leaving audio professionals and more savvy users wanting more.

Immediately after each release of Soundbooth, the team continued working on Audition but it was apparent that Adobe did not need two audio tools in production and the more popular application was absolutely Audition.  We made the commitment to build Audition as a fully cross-platform solution and replace Soundbooth in the line-up, offering the power and fidelity of Audition without making the transition for Soundbooth fans too jarring.  For at least the past 7 years that I've been with the team, the most-requested feature has unequivocably been "Bring Audition to the Mac!"  There are numerous on-line petitions and forum threads demanding this happen.

So we've spent the past two years re-writing Audition from the ground-up, preserving or updating our core DSP, modernizing the code to take advantage of current hardware and operating system technology, and emphasizing increased productivity and speed with every feature.  Updating or completely rewriting 15 years of C++ code takes time, and we recognized rather quickly that we were not going to reach feature parity with Audition 3.01 with this release.  We continuously prioritized our feature database based on our visits with customers big and small, and our awesome, secret, pre-release team.  Our core userbase has always been broadcast - radio, podcast, and video - and our focus for the CS 5.5 release was to build a platform that supported those workflows but remained open and flexible enough that expanding the application to support other audio users would be simple and straightforward.  As we approached the end of our development cycle, I think everyone on the team and in our pre-release program recognized how strong this application is and will be moving forward, even if some of our pet features did not make it into this release yet.

In the next post, I'll describe what's new in Audition CS 5.5, what didn't make it into the application yet, and what we hope to accomplish in the next release.  As I mentioned before, Adobe has publicly committed to a more open release schedule with a major release approximately every 24 months with an additional mid-cycle release.  Not only will this allow us to bring more features to you more quickly, but will help with any hardware updates and purchasing decisions our users may encounter.  Additionally, and currently Audition is not part of this program yet, Adobe is offering installations on a subscription model with all upgrades rolled into the cost.  It will be interesting to hear feedback from our users how this solution works for their needs.
