Lost 40 GB free HD space after Audition CS6 crash (Mac 10.8)

Yesterday I was using Audition CS6 to work on a few large audio files (over 1 GB each). As I've experienced in the past, working on these large files temporarily eats into my available HD space, which makes sense as it is creating temp cache files while the audio files are open. When I started Audition, I had approx. 187.05 GB free space on my HD (according to Finder). As I was working, I saw the free space drop down to about 147 GB. This didn't concern me because the space would always return back to normal after I finished my session and quit out of Audition. Yesterday however, Audition decided to hang (I had no other programs open on my system at the time), and so I had to force quit out of the program. I then restarted Audition and got the "restore previous session, or delete temp files?" message. I clicked to delete temp files, then closed Audition normally. I then noticed that Finder was still reporting HD free space of 147 GB instead of the expected 187 GB. I manually looked for any temp files that might have been left over from the Audition crash, but I couldn't find anything. I also did a search for all files on my system over 1 GB, but nothing unusual turned up there either. Even after restarting my Mac, the Finder was still reporting 147 GB free space. I can't figure out where this 40 GB of free space disappeared to. Does anyone know of anything else I can try to regain the lost HD space? Thanks!
