Sound drops out on playback

I am having issues with the sound dropping out on playback when working with multitrack projects.  The tracks are mono tracks that are recorded on a digital multi-track recorder then imported to my PC, then into Audition via individual audio files. After the tracks are brought into my timeline, effects applied and then rendered, my audio drops out during playback. Typically about 17 to 18 seconds into the song. The audio drops out while the play head continues to roll. If I stop the play head and start the play head again the audio will start again after a slight delay but drops out again after 10 seconds or so.  I use an audio interface (Steinberg Cl-1) to output audio from my PC to my powered speakers.  This is what I have tried so far but will no success.

  • Updated to latest version of Audition - CC Version 6.0 Build 732 64 Bit) = Sam Issue
  • Updated windows 8.1 to latest updates = Sam Issue
  • Updated to the latest Steinburg Cl-1 driver = Sam Issue
  • Tested the audio with other programs and audio sources = No issues with drop outs
  • Purchased a powered USB hub = Sam Issue
  • Replaced the Steinburg Cl-1 with a M-Audio M-Track two channel USB Audio interface = Same issue
  • Messed around with several settings in in Preferences>Audio Hardware = Same Issue
  • `Removed all effects from clips and tracks = Same issue

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
